Wayne C. Galasek CBC (Chartered Benefit
Wayne has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry,
enjoying a wide variety of functions and positions. He spent
his first 10 years as an agent in Peoria and Chicago, winning
sales, persistency and quality awards. Specializing in health
insurance, he helped develop a program for a national podiatry
association involving high-deductible major medical coverage.
That program is still operational and was a forerunner to
today’s consumer driven plans. He was also one of the first
agents in the country to sell Variable Life in the late
In 1986 he started the American Insurance Schools (AIS),
approved by the Illinois Department of Insurance to hold
pre-licensing and continuing education courses for all lines
of insurance. Clients include Met Life, Allstate, State
Farm, Farmers Ins. Group, AIG, The Equitable, John Hancock,
United Healthcare, AON, Combined Insurance, Marsh, GMAC,
Humana and many others. American Insurance Schools is currently
one of only several accepted providers offering classes
to the public in Illinois and has developed proprietary
training programs for companies and specialty sales courses
for financing companies and lending institutions.
In the early 90’s Wayne branched out into consulting work,
specializing in self-funded ERISA health plans and captive
reinsurance programs. His team spearheaded the nation’s
first group health captive for unrelated employers, utilizing
an offshore captive and reinsurance arrangement. Wayne successfully
brought the product to market with member companies in over
American Insurance Schools has continued to expand and now
is at the forefront of Health Benefit Reform and Consumer
Driven/Directed Health Care education. He is a member of
several organizations, including Consumers for Health Care
Choices, a grass roots organization that represents the
views of the health care consumer to policy makers and industry
leadership, and has spent time in Washington lobbying on
behalf of self-insured employers. Wayne continues his consulting
work with individuals and small-mid sized companies in developing
health plan strategies that bring to bear all the critical
elements of our nation’s new health care concepts, and he
is available for public speaking on a variety of CDHC issues.
He was selected by the National Association of Alternative
Benefit Consultants (NAABC) to teach their advanced insurance
designation course for Chartered Benefit Consultants (CBC).
Being a lifetime resident of the Chicago area and avid history
buff, Wayne is a Docent with the Chicago Architectural Foundation
and gives public and private tours about Chicago’s rich
historical skyscraper/architecture heritage. Additionally,
he is a tour guide with Untouchable Tours, Chicago’s Prohibition/Gangster
tour organization. Wayne graduated from Bradley University
in 1975 with a BS in Business and Music (double major).
Prior, in 1974 he earned an Associate Degree from Triton
College in Restaurant/Hotel Mngt. Wayne and his wife, Judy,
live in Oak Park with their two daughters, Heidi and Gretchen.
In his spare time, Wayne coaches girls/womens fastpitch
softball, reads voraciously, plays a number of musical instruments,
tunes pianos and loves to cook!
